Day 6

Poland – March 14, 2018

Northern Illinois University Study Abroad

Today’s temperature had me shivering as it was in the 30’s and drizzling—it was much colder than it has been since arriving to Poland. Because of that, we took taxis to the Academy of Fine Arts and made it on time for our next workshop. A designed I created during the first workshop came into use today which made me so excited. Today’s subject was about screen-printing.

Dictionary definition of screen-printing:
force ink or metal on to (a surface) through a prepared screen of fine material so as to create a picture or pattern.

The staff of the Academy provided t-shirts for us to screen-print our designs onto. It was fun being able to choose from a various set of designs my peers created other than just my own. I got designs on a total of 3 shirts and will be wearing them as soon as possible because they make me smile.

Later, my peers and I all went as a group to Silesia which is a popular shopping mall. I told myself in the beginning that I was not going to buy anything because I didn’t want to spend too much money. I came across perfume and jewelry I loved and purchased away! We only had a little over an hour to explore so I did not get to visit many stores but I did get to see a store which had some crazy shoe designs—none like any I would wear or have seen before.
