Poland – March 13, 2018
Northern Illinois University Study Abroad
For today’s
workshop, I needed information prepared ahead of time so we could get started
right away. The professor in charge of this workshop gave me guidelines on
infographics and how to make data visually appealing and easier to understand.
I chose to keep track of all the different forms of exercise I do was well as
how many hours are spent on each one—I put all of this information on different
charts/graphs. Every student created their own graphs of the data they collected
and we presented them to the class. The professor provided thoughtful suggestions
on how to make our graphs more effective. This workshop was very useful because
I learned so much that I did not know before!
Dictionary definition of infographics:
a visual presentation of information in the form of a chart, graph, or other image accompanied by minimal text, intended to give an easily understood overview, often of a complex subject.
Shortly after the workshop, my peers and I visited an art museum because it was a free day. There were two floors inside this museum—the first floor which had an exhibition of Poland’s history timeline and the second which had many different paintings and sculptures. The first floor had a cool room which was dimly lit and the objective was to find your way around without using light other than what was already there. The architecture of the building itself was pretty unique, especially the ramp. After exploring for about 2 hours, we enjoyed a very nice dinner at a high-end restaurant. In which I got to try beet pudding for the first time.
