Poland – March 15, 2018
Northern Illinois University Study Abroad
Today was a cloudy
day in Poland but warmer than yesterday which was fortunate because my group
was going to be visiting Opole to explore different areas. We left the hotel by
8:45 a.m. to head to the city. The commute was over an hour long so that provided
extra time for us to sleep. Our first stop in Opole was at the Collegium Artium
Uniwersytet Opolski (English: University of Opole). Professor Giza of NIU
currently teaches a couple online classes here so she knows the staff quite
well. A tour was given of different studios within the school such as painting,
sculpture, and print-making to name a few.
The University of
Opole’s staff and students walked with us to a café nearby to get lunch. I had
chocolate banana crepes which were delicious! Afterwards, they took us to
different parts of the city which they thought were the most scenic. One of the
destinations was an amphitheater at which we took a group picture. A good
amount of the walking was though a park that eventually led to another café. We
settled down and got to know each other and laughed repeatedly. So far, this has
been my favorite day this trip.
